Choosing colors

In Dreamweaver, many of the dialog boxes, as well as the Property inspector for many page elements, contain a color box, which opens a color palette. Use the color palette to choose a color for an element.

To choose a color in Dreamweaver:

1 Choose a color box in any dialog box or in the Property inspector.
2 Do one of the following:
Use the eyedropper to select a color swatch from the palette. All colors in the palette are Web safe.
Use the eyedropper to pick up a color from anywhere on your computer monitor, including outside of the Dreamweaver windows. (If you click the desktop or another application, Dreamweaver picks up the color where you clicked, but you may switch into the other application; in that case, click a Dreamweaver window to continue working in Dreamweaver.)
To limit the selection to Web-safe colors, make sure the Web-safe Eyedropper button is enabled. When this option is enabled, the color you select is changed to the closest Web-safe color. Click the button to disable this option.
Click the Eraser button to clear the current color without choosing a different color.
Click the Palette button to open the system color picker. Colors chosen from the system color picker do not change to the closest Web-safe color even if the Web-safe eyedropper is active.
